The Central neighborhood hailed its name from one of the city’s largest high schools, Central High, built in 1913. Popularity of this neighborhood is rapidly growing as it attracts that adore the areas historical buildings, diverse community and quick access to Downtown, Uptown, the Lakes, the Greenway and many other hot spots. Communities within the Central neighborhood include: Downtown East, Downtown West, Elliot Park, Loring Park, North Loop and Stevens Square/Loring Heights.
